Located about a mile south of Mondamin, the Mondamin Wildlife Area is owned by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and managed by the Harrison County Conservation Board (as of 2009 this area is both owned and managed by the Iowa DNR). These 38 acres used to be a borrow pit for the interstate system. It now contains dense cottonwoods perfect for upland game hunting including pheasant, quail, rabbits, squirrel, deer, and turkey. Parking is available along Detroit Lane, a level "B" dirt road.
